Student privacy at Classroom Tools Hub
Classroom Tools Hub is built so that a teacher can use it in class without creating an account and without sending any student information to anyone. This page explains exactly how, in plain words, for teachers, school leaders and district reviewers.
The short version
- No accounts: there is nothing to sign up for, for teachers or for students.
- Class lists stay in the teacher’s browser (local storage) and are never uploaded. We have no server or database that could receive them.
- The noise meter measures loudness on the device. Audio is never recorded, stored or sent.
- No ads, no advertising trackers, no cookies.
What is stored, and where
Only on the device you use, in the browser’s local storage, under keys that start with classroomtoolshub::
- your class lists (list names and the names you typed or pasted);
- which names were already picked, and the last groups you made;
- tool settings: timer length and sound, the “don’t repeat names” option, group mode and size, noise limit, sensitivity and beep.
Copy groups puts the group list on your computer’s clipboard, like any copy: if your device syncs its clipboard to other devices, the copied text follows that setting. Another teacher using a different computer never sees your lists. Clearing your browser data, or the button below, deletes them.
What we never collect
- Student names, photos, voices or any other student information on a server.
- Teacher e-mail addresses or passwords (there is no account).
- Audio recordings from the noise meter.
Analytics
To know which tools are used, we count page views with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not identify visitors. It never sees what you type into a tool.
COPPA, FERPA and state student privacy laws
Laws such as COPPA, FERPA and California’s SOPIPA govern how services collect and use information about students. Because Classroom Tools Hub does not collect, receive or store any student information, there is no student data for us to share, sell or lose. If a district requires a signed data privacy agreement for every website, show them this page: the answer to most questions is “no data is collected.”
Delete everything on this device
This removes every class list and setting Classroom Tools Hub saved in this browser.
